Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born South London, England into a mixed family. She has a mother who is English while her father is Nigerian. She was raised in the south of a London council estate, and went to The Brit School at age 14. In London, she studied at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in which her acting diploma was obtained. During her time at the academy, she appeared in several stage productions, including the King Henry V playing Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe first began her career as an actress in the movie Storm Damage. She has appeared as guest for Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe landed her first motion picture in the 2007 Woody Allen film Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. In the wake of that film's success her role was Elisha in the single-episode BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN which aired in 2007 and she also appeared in the six episodes of Trexx and Flipside in the role of Ollie. In 2008, she was offered the Bambi character on ITV2 Drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was in both series 2 and 3. Madekwe also appeared on the comedy How to Lose Friends and to annoy people (2008). A couple of her credits on stage are Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) and Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe made her US debut with The Beautiful Life in 2009. The series aired only two episodes at The CW, and was eventually cancelled. Ashley Davenport was her role in ABC's drama Revenge. The departure of Madekwe from the show was officially announced in May of 2013. After a period of two years as the main character she made a guest performance in the opening episode of season 3. In the television series Salem in 2014, she portrayed Tituba between 2014 and 2016. Madekwe was married to her long-time lover, Iddo. In addition to Secret Diary of a Call Girl they also appeared together on Salem and he had a part alongside her in the show on TV.
Ashley Leggat, an actress that was nominated two times for a Gemini Award, comes from an extensive Hamilton family. She joined her parents, Roy and Patty as well as her four brothers, Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley grew in arenas or baseball parks because her brothers, who were all athletic, played hockey and baseball as well as both during summer and winter. Ashley did not walk; instead, she danced. In the age of two and half, she found Baby Ballet. Ashley discovered her love for dance at this age. Ashley participated in the top divisions for jazz, tap hip hop, ballet the lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics as well as pointe until the time she completed high school. Ashley won the best soloist award at every major dance contest, which included International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more, just to mention the few.
