Ali MacGraw

Ali studied at Wellesley College, where she studied art history. Ali was employed in magazines for fashion upon her graduation. Her interest in fashion photography resulted in her becoming a top model, a career she continued to pursue till 1968. In that year, she got a late start on what was to be the beginning of a film career that was sporadic in part due to her wedding to Steve McQueen. The films she directed had a high success rate and/or not. Today the former actress is living in New Mexico in a modest way. About the surprise success of Love Story (70), her debut film in which she starred I can't imagine the satisfaction of being loved by people around the globe, and being greeted by people who comment on the haircut you wear every time you walk down the street. I've since learned that surviving stardom depends on being able to figure your identity so that you do not define you by what others say about you. There is nothing you can do to prepare yourself to confront such a quagmire. But this isn't the end.
